Educational Qualification:

Post Code 1. Scientist - E  -

Essential Qualification: Post Graduate Degree (M.Sc., M. Tech.) in Atmospheric Science /Oceanic Science /Climate Science /Marine Science / Meteorology / Oceanography / Physics / Mathematics / Mechanical / Civil or Bachelor’s degree in Engineering or Technology in Mechanical / Civil or its equivalent from a recognized university / institute with at least a first class (60% of marks) in the qualifying degree. AND 11 (eleven) years of experience with Ocean Models /Coupled Ocean Atmospheric Models / Numerical Models for short and long-term forecasts of ocean and atmosphere with data assimilation, model parametrization, Research experience including familiarity with data processing and analysis proven through reputed peer-reviewed SCI publications.

Desirable Qualification:

- Ph.D. in Marine Science / Atmospheric Science /Climatic science/ Physical Oceanography/Chemical Oceanography/ Meteorology or similar fields.

- Experience in policy making, planning and Management in the field of oceanography.

- Experience in Fortran programming and data analysis using software like Ferret, MATLAB, etc.

- nFamiliarity with scientific visualization and analysis software such as FERRET, GMT, MATLAB, ODV, GRADS etc.

- Experience in undertaking research work onboard ships/boats.

Post Code 2. Scientist - C -

Essential Qualification: Post Graduate Degree (M.Sc., M. Tech., M.S, M.C.A) in Computer Science/Computer Applications/Information Technology/Data Science or Bachelor’s degree in Engineering or Technology in Computer Science/Information Technology/Data Science or its equivalent from a recognized university / institute with at least a first class (60% of marks) in the qualifying degree.

AND

03 (Three) years of experience in the field of data processing and analysis related to Oceanographic data sets, Big Data and Data Analytics, Database Management, applications of AI/ML related to Oceanographic data sets, Open-source software for working with large datasets.

Desirable Qualification:

- PhD in Computer Science or Information Technology or Data Science or similar fields.

- Experience in programming (Matlab, Python, etc.), data analysis software (e.g., FERRET etc.,) and data visualization software (Tableau, Power BI, FERRET etc).

- Experience in handling Database Management Software like Oracle, DB2, MySQL and experience in Cloud Computing.

Essential Qualification: Master of Fishery Science (M.F.Sc.) in Fisheries Resources Management or Post Graduate Degree (M.Sc., M. Tech.) in Oceanic Sciences /Marine Science / Oceanography / Marine Biology / Marine Chemistry or its equivalent from a recognized university / institute with at least a first class (60% of marks) in the qualifying degree.

Desirable:

- Ph.D. in Marine Sciences / Physical Oceanography/ Biological oceanography/ Fishery Sciences or similar fields.

- Proven record of experience in any of the fields such as Remote Sensing and GIS for Fisheries Management, Fish Stock Assessment, fishery modeling (habitat suitability models, ecosystem models, etc.), fishery capture technologies, R&D in marine fisheries, satellite oceanography, primary productivity modeling, etc.

- Experience in scientific programing languages (Fortran, Python & C.) and data analysis software like FERRET, MATLAB, GRAD, GMT etc.

- Familiarity with usage of field and lab equipment and experience in cruise participation onboard boats/ships.

Essential Qualification: Post Graduate Degree (M.Sc., M. Tech., M.Sc (Tech.)) in Atmospheric Science /Oceanic Science /Climate Science /Marine Science / Meteorology / Oceanography / Physics/ Mathematics/ Geophysics/ Mechanical / Civil or Bachelor’s degree in Engineering or Technology in the Mechanical / Civil/ Ocean Engineering or its equivalent from a recognized university / institute with at least a first class (60% of marks) in the qualifying degree.

Desirable Qualification:

- Ph.D. in Marine Science / Atmospheric science / Climatic science/ Physical Oceanography/ Meteorology/ Ocean Engineering or similar fields.

- Experience in handling mathematical/numerical models for short and long-term forecasts of oceans and atmosphere with data assimilation, handling of models for prediction of Tsunamis & Strom Surge and associated inundation along the coast; Research experience including familiarity with data processing and analysis proven through reputed peer-reviewed SCI publications.

- Experience in Fortran programming and data analysis using software like FERRET, MATLAB, etc.

- Familiarity with scientific visualization and analysis software such as FERRET, GMT, MATLAB, ODV, GRADS etc.

- Experience in cruise participation onboard boats/ships.

Essential Qualification:

Officers under the Central Government/ State Government/ University/ Research Institutions/ Public Sector Undertaking OR Semi-Government / Autonomous organizations:

Holding analogous posts on a regular basis with essential qualification as in point no.(i) and field of experience as prescribed in point no.(ii) below. OR

Holding a regular post with three years of service in the Level 10 (Rs.56100-177500) of the pay matrix or equivalent with essential qualification as in point no.(i) and field of experience as prescribed in point no.(ii) below OR

Holding a regular post with five years regular service in the Level 8 (Rs.47600 -151100) of the pay matrix with essential qualification as in point no.(i) and field of experience as prescribed in point no.(ii) below.

(i) Post Graduate Degree (M.Sc., M. Tech.) in Atmospheric Science /Oceanic Science /Climate Science /Marine Science / Meteorology / Oceanography / Physics/ Mathematics/ or its equivalent from a recognized university / institute with at least a first class (60% of marks) in the qualifying degree.

(ii) Not less than 03 (three) years of research experience in one or more fields of ocean observations, ocean data processing and analysis, research experience proven through reputed peer-reviewed SCI publications.

Desirable Qualifications:

- Ph.D. in Marine science /Atmospheric science /Climatic science/ Physical Oceanography /Chemical Oceanography/ Meteorology or similar fields.

- Experience in C programming, Python and data analysis using software like MATLAB, FERRET etc.

Age Limit: (As on 25.07.2022)

1. Scientist - E  - 50 yrs.

2. Scientist - C - 40 yrs.

3. Scientist – B - 35 yrs.

4. Scientist - C - 56 yrs.

The Upper age limit is relaxed by 5 years for SC/ST; 3 years for OBC, 10 Years for Persons with Disabilities (15 years for SC/ST PWD’s & 13 years for OBC PWD’s) and for Ex-S as per Govt. of India rules. Salary Details:

1. Scientist - E  - Level 13 of the Pay Matrix (Rs.1,23,100–2,15,900) and allowances as per INCOIS rules.

2. Scientist - C - Level 11 of the Pay Matrix (Rs.67,700-2,08,700) and allowances as per INCOIS rules.

3. Scientist – B - Level 10 of the Pay Matrix (Rs.56,100-1,77,500) and allowances as per INCOIS rules.

4. Scientist - C - Level 11 of the Pay Matrix (Rs.67,700-2,08,700) and allowances as per INCOIS rules.

 

INCOIS Scientist Selection Process 2022:

The selection of all the posts of this advertisement shall be on the basis of performance of the screened in candidates in the Interview and based on the Selection Committee's recommendations.

Such hard copies of applications received through proper channel and complete in all aspects will only be considered for screening purpose. The screened in candidates will be called for interview and the final selection will be based on the candidate’s performance before the Selection Committee and based on recommendations of Selection Committee and evaluation of APARs for last 5 years
