Conservator of Forests Selection Process:
The
Selection Procedure of the Exam will be as follows:
1. Preliminary Examination
(Single Paper) (Objective Type)
2.
Main Written Examination and Oral Test
Selection
Procedure:
The selection will be made in four successive stages
viz., (i) Preliminary Examination for selection of candidates for admission to
the Main Written Examination (ii) Main Written Examination (iii) Physical Test
and (iv) Oral Test in the shape of an Interview. The Preliminary Examination is
meant to serve as a screening test only. The marks obtained in the Preliminary
Examination by the candidates who are declared qualified for admission to the
Main Written Examination will not be counted for determining their final order
of merit. The number of candidates to be admitted to the Main Written
Examination will be 10 times the number of candidates to be recruited having
regard to the rule of reservation of appointments. However, in each reservation
group, all the candidates who secure the same marks as that of cut off marks of
their reservation groups shall also be admitted to the Main Written
Examination, though the number of candidates to be admitted to the Main Written
Examination may exceed 1:10 ratio. No supplemental list will be published in
the place of rejected candidates (or) candidates who have failed to send
documents for verification. The final selection will be made based on the total
marks obtained by the candidates in the Main Written Examination Paper-II,
Paper-III, Paper-IV Paper-V and Oral Test taken together, subject to Rule of
Reservation of Appointments.

Optional Subjects (Paper-IV & Paper-V) from the list of 21 Subjects
given below: - Candidates may Choose any two optional subjects from the
following 21 subjects given below with the conditions that the applicant
shall not be allowed to take more than one subject in the same group:- Subjects:- 1. Forestry (Code No.283) 2. Botany (Code No.268) 3. Zoology (Code No.270) 4. Physics (Code No.241) 5. Chemistry (Code No.243) 6. Mathematics (Code No.276) 7. Statistics (Code No.274) 8. Geology (Code No.239) 9. Note:-
i.
Appearance in all the papers of the Main Written Examination, Physical Test and
the Oral Test is compulsory. Candidates who have not appeared for any one or
more papers of the Main Written Examination, Physical Test or Oral Test shall
not be considered for further selection, even if they secure the minimum
qualifying marks for selection.
ii.
No candidates shall be allowed to take more than one subject of the group (i) Agriculture, Agricultural Engineering, Horticulture and Veterinary
Science (ii) Chemistry and Chemical Engineering (iii) Computer Applications,
Computer Science and Computer/Computer Science Engineering (iv) Electrical
Engineering and Electronics Engineering (v) Mathematics and Statistics.
iii.
General Studies paper in the Preliminary Examination will be set both in
English and Tamil languages.
iv.
The question papers in the following subjects will be set both in Tamil and in English. General Studies, Botany, Chemistry, Mathematics,
Physics, Statistics and Zoology.
v. For the following subjects the question
paper will be set in English only.
Agriculture, Agricultural Engineering, Computer Applications, Computer Science,
Chemical Engineering, Civil Engineering, Computer/Computer Science Engineering,
Electrical Engineering, Electronics Engineering, Geology, Mechanical Engineering,
Environmental Science, Forestry, Horticulture and Veterinary Science.

The Main Written Examination answer sheets of Paper-II, Paper-III, Paper-IV and
Paper-V will be evaluated, only if the candidate secures minimum qualifying
marks [40%-i.e., 40 marks] in Paper-I (Tamil Eligibility Test) and the marks
secured in Paper-I will not be taken into account for ranking. Refer G.O.(Ms)

However, as per the orders issued in G.O. (Ms) No.49, Human Resources
Management (M) Department, dated 23.05.2022, the differently abled candidates
may avail exemption from writing Paper-I (Tamil Eligibility Test). Such
candidate have to furnish the required details in the online application without
fail. The candidates need to upload Disability Certificate (Refer Annexure-IV)
as prescribed in G.O. (Ms) No. 08, Welfare of Differently Abled Persons
(DAP-3.2) Department dated 21.09.2021.

Refer Para 17 of “Instructions to Applicants” in regard to instructions to be
followed while appearing for competitive examinations conducted by the
Commission.
