UPSC Scientist ‘B’ Eligibility Criteria:

Educational Qualification:  

1. Scientist ‘B’ (Chemistry)

(A) Educational: Master degree in Chemistry or Biochemistry or Forensic Science with Chemistry as one of the subjects during all the three years of bachelor of Science from a recognised University or Institute.

(B) Experience: Three years experience of analytical methods and research therein in the field of Chemistry from a government recognised organization or institution.

Desirable: One year experience of working in a Forensic Science Laboratory under the Central or State Government or Union Territory administration after obtaining the minimum prescribed educational qualifications

2. Deputy Central Intelligence Officer (Technical)(DCIO/Tech) - Educational: Bachelor’s Degree in Engineering (B.E. or B.Tech) or B.Sc (Engg) awarded by a recognized University in the fields of Electronics or Electronics & Communications or Electronics and Telecommunications or Computer Science or Computer Engineering or Computer Technology or Computer Science and Engineering or Information Technology or Software Engineering; OR Associate Membership of Institute of Engineers(AMIE) in Electronics and Communications Engineering or Graduate Ship awarded by Associate Membership of Institute of Electronics and Telecommunication Engineers (AMIETE) in Electronics and Telecommunications Engineering (Only those students who were enrolled with Institutions with permanent recognition up to 31.05.2013 would be eligible.) OR Master of Science in Physics with Electronics or Telecommunications OR Master of Computer Applications(MCA) after three years Bachelor of Science in Physics or Master of Science (Information Technology)) or Master of Science (Computer Science) or Master of Science (Software) from a recognized University.

3. Joint Assistant Director –

Educational: B.Tech or B.E. or B.Sc. (Engnr) degree in Electronics or Electronics and Telecommunication or Electronics and Communication or Information Technology or Computer Science or Information and Communication Technology or Electrical Engineering with Telecommunication as a special subject from a recognized University or Institute OR Master degree in Electronics or Computer Science or Information Technology or Artificial Intelligence or Physics with Electronics or Communication or Wireless or Radio subjects as specialization from a recognized University or Institute.

Desirable: Three years’ experience in Radio Communication or Computer Communication or Satellite Communication or Artificial Intelligence or Internet of Things or Cyber Security from Central Government or State Government or Union Territory or Public Sector Undertaking or Statutory or Autonomous organization.

4. Assistant Labour Commissioner, Labour Department, Government of NCT of Delhi –

(A) Educational

(i) Degree of a recognized University or equivalent. 

(ii) Degree in Law or Post Graduate Degree or Diploma in Social Work/Labour Welfare Laws/Industrial Relations/Personnel Management of a recognized University/Institution or equivalent.

(B) Experience: Three years’ experience in a responsible capacity in handling/dealing with Labour Problems in a Government Establishment or Industry or Trade Union Organization.

Desirable: Knowledge of Hindi and/or Urdu.

Age Limit:

1. Scientist ‘B’ (Chemistry) - 35 years.

2. Deputy Central Intelligence Officer (Technical)(DCIO/Tech) - 35 years.

3. Joint Assistant Director - 30 years.

4. Assistant Labour Commissioner, Labour Department, Government of NCT of Delhi - 35 years.

The Upper age limit is relaxed by 5 years for SC/ST; 3 years for OBC, 10 Years for Persons with Disabilities (15 years for SC/ST PWD’s & 13 years for OBC PWD’s) and for Ex-S as per Govt. of India rules. Salary Details:

1. Scientist ‘B’ (Chemistry) - Level- 10 in the Pay Matrix as per 7th CPC.

2. Deputy Central Intelligence Officer (Technical)(DCIO/Tech) - Level- 10 in the Pay Matrix as per 7th CPC.

3. Joint Assistant Director - Level- 08 in the Pay Matrix as per 7th CPC.

4. Assistant Labour Commissioner, Labour Department, Government of NCT of Delhi - Level- 10 in the Pay Matrix as per 7th CPC.

Application Fee/Exam Fee for UPSC Scientist ‘B’: 

(a) Candidates are required to pay a fee of Rs. 25/- (Rupees Twenty five) only either by remitting the money in any branch of the SBI by cash or by using net banking facility of the SBI or by using visa/master credit/debit card.

(b) No fee for SC/ST/PwBD/Women candidates of any community. No "fee exemption" is available to Gen/OBC/EWS male candidates and they are required to pay the full prescribed fee.

(c) Applications without the prescribed fee would not be considered and summarily rejected. No representation against such rejection would be entertained.

(d) Fee once paid shall not be refunded under any circumstance nor can the fee be held in reserve for any other examination or selection.
