UPSC Administrative Officer Eligibility Criteria:

Educational Qualification:

1. Marketing Specialist or Economist -

Essential Qualifications: Master of Business Administration (Marketing) or Master of Business Economics from a recognised University or Institution.

Experience: Five years experience in the field of marketing of agriculture or horticulture produce or supply chain management in the Central Government or State Government or Union territory Administration or public sector undertakings or Statutory or Autonomous Organisations or Universities or Recognised Research Institutions

2. Archivist (Oriental Records) -

Essential Qualifications: (i) Master’s Degree in History with a paper in Indian History from a recognised University or Institute; and (ii) Studied Sanskrit or Persian or Arabic language as a subject or paper at degree level or one year advanced Diploma course in Persian language from a recognised University or Institute.

Experience: Two years’ experience in an archives office or Government Record Office in supervisory capacity or research or teaching in the relevant subject at under graduate level in a recognised institution or University.


(i) Diploma in Archives and Records Management or Diploma or Certificate in Archival Science;

(ii) Diploma or Certificate in Computer Application or Information Technology;

(iii) Certificate of proficiency from a recognised University or Institute in foreign or other Indian classical languages like Tamil, Sanskrit, Telugu, Kannada, Malayam, Odiya besides candidates mother tongue.

3. Administrative Officer -

Essential Qualifications: Bachelor’s degree of a recognized University.

Experience: Two years’ experience in Administration, Accounts and Establishment, Legal or Vigilance matters in Central or State or Union Territory Government or Government Autonomous or Statutory Organisation or Central or State Public Sector Corporation or University.

Desirable: (i) Degree in Law or Personnel Management from recognized University; (ii) Knowledge of Government Rules and Regulations relating to Administration, Accounts and Establishment.

Age Limit:

1. Marketing Specialist or Economist - 40 years.

2. Archivist (Oriental Records) - 35 years.

3. Administrative Officer - 30 years.

The Upper age limit is relaxed by 5 years for SC/ST; 3 years for OBC, 10 Years for Persons with Disabilities (15 years for SC/ST PWD’s & 13 years for OBC PWD’s) and for Ex-S as per Govt. of India rules. Salary Details:

1. Marketing Specialist or Economist - Level11 in the Pay Matrix as per 7th CPC.

2. Archivist (Oriental Records) - Level- 08 in the Pay Matrix as per 7th CPC.

3. Administrative Officer - Level07 in the Pay Matrix as per 7th CPC.

UPSC may follow the following process to select the candidates.

Application Fee/Exam Fee for UPSC Administrative Officer: 

(a) Candidates are required to pay a fee of Rs. 25/- (Rupees Twenty five) only either by remitting the money in any branch of the SBI by cash or by using net banking facility of the SBI or by using visa/master credit/debit card.

(b) No fee for SC/ST/PwBD/Women candidates of any community. No "fee exemption" is available to Gen/OBC/EWS male candidates and they are required to pay the full prescribed fee.
