UPSC LEO & Scientist Eligibility Criteria:
Educational
Qualification:
1. Senior
Instructor – Educational: M.Sc. in Marine Biology or Zoology or Fisheries Science or equivalent
from a recognized University. Experience: Three years experience of teaching Marine Biology, Zoology or Fishery
Science in Government or Semi Government or Autonomous or other reputed Institutions.
DESIRABLE: Doctorate in Marine Biology or Zoology or Fisheries Science |
2. Deputy
Director – Educational: (A) (i) Masters Degree in Computer Applications or Computer Science or
M. Tech (with specialization in Computer Applications) or BE/B. Tech in
Information Technology or Computer Engineering or Computer Science or
Computer Technology from a recognized University or Institute; (ii) Twelve
years experience of electronic data processing or computer oriented
optimization information or Statistical System, out of which at least seven
years experience should be in actual Computer Programming and System Design
or Design, Development or Organizing Computerized Information Storage and
Retrieval System OR (B) (i) BE/B.Tech in Electronics or Electronics and
Communication Engineering from a recognized University or Institute (ii)
Thirteen years experience of electronic data processing or computer oriented
optimization information or Statistical System, out of which at least eight
years experience should be in actual Computer Programming and System Design
or Design, Development or Organizing Computerized Information Storage and
retrieval system OR (C) (i) Bachelor’s Degree in Computer Applications or
Computer Science or Information Technology or Electronics from a recognized
University or Institute; (ii) Thirteen years experience of Electronic Data
Processing or Computer Oriented Optimization Information or Statistical
System, out of which at least eight years experience should be in actual
Computer Programming and System Design or Design, Development or Organizing
Computerized Information Storage and Retrieval System |
3. Scientist
‘B’ (Forensic DNA) – Educational: Master degree in Biochemistry or Biotechnology or Zoology or Human
Genetics having Botany or Zoology as one of the subjects during all the three
years of Bachelor of Science from a recognised University; or Master Degree
in Forensic Science with Botany or Zoology as one of the subjects during all
the three years of Bachelor of Science from a recognised University or
institute OR Bachelor of Engineering or Bachelor of Technology in
Biotechnology from recognised University or institute Experience: Three years experience of analytical methods and research therein in
the field of Forensic DNA from a government recognised organization or
institution. Desirable: One year experience of working in a Forensic Science Laboratory under
the Central or State Government or Union Territory administration after
obtaining the minimum prescribed educational qualifications |
4. Junior
Scientific Officer – Educational: Masters Degree in Chemistry or Associateship diploma of the
Institution of Chemist by examination* or Forensic Science with Chemistry as
one of the subjects during all the three years of Bachelor of Science level
from a recognised University. Note: *Associateship diploma of the Institution of Chemist by
examination qualification will be applicable only for the departmental
scientists available on the date of notification of the RR (amendment). Experience: Three years experience in research and analytical work in the field of
Explosives in any central and state organization or recognised institute or
university or forensic science laboratories under Central Government and
State Government. Desirable: Experience of working in a forensic science laboratory. |
5. Scientist
‘B’ (Chemistry) – Educational: Master’s Degree in Chemistry from a recognised University or
Institute. Experience: Three years experience in the field of Chemistry. |
6. Scientist
‘B’ (Geo-physics) – Educational: Master’s Degree in Geo-physics from a recognised University or
Institute. Experience: Three years experience in the field of Geo-physics. |
7. Scientist
‘B’ (Geology) – Educational: Master’s Degree in Geology from a recognised University or Institute. (Experience:
Three years experience in the field of
Geology. |
8. Labour
Enforcement Officer – Educational: (i) Degree in any discipline with Commerce or Economics or Sociology
or Social Work as one of the subjects from a recognized University or
Institute; (ii) Diploma in Law or Labour Relations or Labour Welfare or
Labour Laws or Industrial Relations or Sociology or Commerce or Social Work
or Welfare Business Administration or Personnel Management from a recognized
University or Institute. Desirable: One Year experience in Labour Law or Labour Welfare or Labour
Relations or Personnel Management in an Industrial Organization or a
Government Establishment. |

Upper age limit is relaxed by 5 years for SC/ST; 3 years for OBC, 10 Years for
Persons with Disabilities (15 years for SC/ST PWD’s & 13 years for OBC
PWD’s) and for Ex-S as per Govt. of India rules. Candidates Relaxation in Upper

Fee/Exam Fee for UPSC LEO & Scientist:
(a) Candidates are required to pay a fee of Rs. 25/- (Rupees Twenty
five) only either by remitting the money in any branch of the SBI by cash or
by using net banking facility of the SBI or by using visa/master credit/debit
card. (b) No fee for SC/ST/PwBD/Women candidates of any community. No
"fee exemption" is available to Gen/OBC/EWS male candidates and
they are required to pay the full prescribed fee. (c) Applications without the prescribed fee would not be considered and
summarily rejected. No representation against such rejection would be
entertained. (d) Fee once paid shall not be refunded under any circumstance nor can
the fee be held in reserve for any other examination or selection. |
